Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday - Spectors by Angelia Almos

Spectors by Angelia Almos.

A space pirate almost loses everything she cares about when she’s blackmailed by the military into running a dangerous mission.

Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday Snippet:

The building was dark, signaling it didn’t run nonstop. Which was good and bad news. Good because it wasn’t likely they’d accidentally run into someone in the wrong place at the wrong time, and bad because if they did run into someone they wouldn’t have an excuse to explain their presence.
They walked past their target and turned down an alley a couple of buildings away after Kristy was sure no one was paying attention to them. She pulled Felicity back into a doorway as a bored armed guard sauntered by them. She tried to make out his patch to see what type of guard or police he was, but couldn’t see it clearly from their current hiding place. She wasn’t willing to reveal where they were to know exactly who he worked for.
Once he was out of sight, they crept down to the town hall building, stopping just short of the stationary surveillance camera filming the single back door. She rolled her eyes at the paltry security measures, but they obviously weren’t worried about someone breaking into the building. She doubted they were worried about someone sneaking in to copy their hard drives from the mainframe system either.

  2. Hm, I'm suspicious when things are easy - it usually means the dirt is about to hit the fan.

  3. To quote Darth Vader, "All too easy."

There has to be something more to this than what has happened so far. The plan is perfectly falling into place thus far! You have something up your sleeve. Don't you?

    Looking forward to more!

  4. I do love lax security...but like the others, this is usually when I start thinking someone's laying a trap. Good snippet! :-)
