Chronicles of Prince Charming

Image
I know it's been a while since I've done a post on Prince and there's a very good reason for that. I don't have a lot to report except that I hurt my back and neck in January and reinjured them shortly after they healed in February. I've been pretty much land locked since then. As so many of us athletes do (you know who you are) I tried to ignore the injury, doing everything I would normally do, living with the pain and when it would get too intense take some advil. That went on for a couple of weeks until my body had enough and I had to ground myself since I could barely function. Went to a massage therapist and chiropractor who helped a lot and got me back on the right track. But it took a lot longer than I guessed for my back and neck to recover. I've ridden a few times, short test rides, to see if my body is ready. And so far, no. But Prince remains in half-training at his stable so he is still getting ridden a couple of times a week by the trainer.

Power to the Fans - The Veronica Mars Movie Project

I was cruising Facebook yesterday evening and came across something very interesting. A post for FANS to help fund a Veronica Mars Movie. My first thought was scam and why would someone target the fans of VM? But then I looked around and found out this was actually Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell asking the fans to make a Veronica Mars movie happen. They had pitched the idea to Warner Bros. who had agreed to let them make a movie if they met a minimum donation amount - $2,000,000. The Veronica Mars Movie Project at Kickstarter was born. As of this minute (9:55 AM PST, 3/14/2013) they have raised $2,695,311 from 44,523 backers (fans). They hit their goal of $2,000,000 in less than 11 hours after going live. Rob wasn't even sure they would hit the $2,000,000 within the 30 days of the drive. If you're a Veronica Mars fan, be sure to watch the pitch video that many of the cast members and Rob made.   I find this entire thing fascinating. Imagine the possibilities of fans f

Lessons from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and Doom - Siblings

Image
Content warning: Both of these movies are R and contain swearing and lots of gross violence. Though none of those images are displayed or talked about in this post. I was touched and inspired by the relationship between Hansel and Gretel in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters . Though you know they're siblings going into the movie I was surprised at the fondness and devotion they have to each other. The actors and screenwriters do an awesome job showing their dynamic. Though there are several scenes where you can see their siblingness. My favorite has to be about halfway through the movie. Hansel and Gretel have been separated during a night raid and both stumble across the same cabin in the middle of the woods. They attack each other at first (not knowing who they have run into), but quickly realize who they are fighting. Hansel looks clearly into Gretel's face and sees that someone has attacked and beat her. The injuries are focused on her face and not from a normal
